Weekend Box Office- Bee Buzzes #1

Jerry Seinfeld’s “Bee Movie” buzzed to the top of the box office, overtaking last weeks #1, “American Gangster,” starring Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe. The DreamWorks/ Paramount animated comedy flick, packed in family crowds to pull in $26 million, raising its total to $72.2 million, in two weeks.

Weekend Box Office- Gangster #1

Ridley Scott’s gritty ’70s drug-dealer epic, “American Gangster,” was number one in last weekends box office tally. Gangster handily out gunned Jerry Seinfeld’s “Bee Movie”, by 7 million dollars, appearing on 1000 less screens. The two movies were successful in breaking the post-summer doldrums and announcing that the winter holiday hits are on the way.

Warner Bros. captured the top spot with the vigilante thriller “The Brave One” last weekend grossing $13.5M. Weekend Box Office- Super Again

With $18 million and a second first-place finish, “Superbad” joined “Pirates” and “Spidey” as the only three movies to win back-to-back weekends this summer. With a new total of nearly $70 million dollars, the flick will soon join über-producer Judd Apatow’s “40-Year-Old Virgin” and “Knocked Up” as certified $100 million hits.
