WOW! It’s been a tough few days for geniuses. The entertainment world mourns the loss of 3 geniuses, all passing within a day of each other. Again I hate to be morbid, this site is about sarcasm, parody and humor, but I would be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge the passing of 3 heavyweights in the entertainment world. Three very different people that made their marks in three different mediums of entertainment, Film, TV, and Sports.

Ingmar Bergman- film director died on Monday in his beloved Sweden, he was 89 years old.
He was “probably the greatest film artist, all things considered, since the invention of the motion picture camera,” Woody Allen said in a 70th birthday tribute in 1988.
“It’s an unbelievable loss for Sweden, but even more so internationally,” Astrid Soderbergh Widding, president of The Ingmar Bergman Foundation, which administers the directors’ archives, told The Associated Press.
Through more than 50 films, Bergman’s vision encompassed all the extremes of his Sweden. He was considered by his peers the greatest living filmmaker, until his death.

Bill Walsh, the groundbreaking football coach who won three Super Bowls and perfected the ingenious schemes that became known as the West Coast offense during a Hall of Fame career with the San Francisco 49ers, has died. He was 75. Coached the Niners and Joe Mantana to 3 Super Bowl Championships. His nickname was The Genius. His ideas and approach to National Football League coaching, changed the game into what the game has become today. Only 2 coaches can take credit for taking the game to another level and changing it forever, Vince Lombardi and Bill Walsh.

Tom Snyder, who as I said in the previous article, I personally had a soft spot for. An entertainer that was beamed into my house every night, and became almost like a family member. I would find myself defending Snyder as I grew up, explaining that he was cool. Not like The Fonz cool, but cool in different way. Recognizing at an early age that this guy was doing something different on TV.

For these three to have passes all within a day of each other, represents the passing of a generation of genius in the entertainment world. Bergman’s films from the early 50’s through 2003, Bill Walsh’s amazing success in making Football into mass appeal entertainment in the 80’s, and Tom Snyder with his shows and all his interviews through the 70’s and 80’s. People like todays celebrities should be looking at this generation of genius entertainers that passed today, and should be humbled by what they have, without having nearly as much talent as these 3 men had.
I feel like I got a little bit older today.
…totally
