So Kenny Luby and Mateen Kemet, were both voted off after Action Week, ON THE LOT. They were both good guys, I didn’t get a chance to work with either one of them, so I didn’t know them real well. I think both were a bit misunderstood in different ways.
Kenny was considered the rebel film maker of the show, and the heart throb for the ladies. That, and a couple of decent movies kept him in it, this long. He ultimately had talent but couldn’t apply it, and didn’t have the experience to trust the people trying to help him. Like I said a good guy, but wasn’t really always smart about how he went about things.
Mateen, also a great guy, I only got to speak to him a few times, but he was always pleasant. His films were well made, and solid efforts. I think that he went too far constantly trying to get messages across in his films. Beating people over the head with his messages every week, turned people off after a while.
They both did a great job, and came a long way on the show, but both were due to go. The top six seems to be right group of filmmakers to be left, Will, Zach, Jason, Adam, Sam, and Andy. I would have liked to see Hilary in the top six, but all of these guys have done really well.
“Girl Trouble”, the film I worked on with Adam Stein premiered for Comedy Romance Week, and was well received. The audience loved it and the judges liked it a lot. I think Adam made a great and very funny film, about people who know each other well and see things differently sometimes. It was a job well done by Adam, and our crew, he was a pleasure to work with. I would work with him again any time. He really pulled off a wacky script, including shots recreated from the films, “American Beauty” and “The Graduate”. It should certainly be strong enough to get him by for another week. Only one contestant goes next week. I’ll be working with Jason Epperson on his film “The Move”, this week.

“Key Witness” I worked on with Sam during action week. It was my favorite movie to work on this season. Check out the behind the scenes, I’m the guy who thanks everybody at the end.
