Breaking News from the New York Daily News:
Ja Rule, 31, of Saddle Brook, N.J., and Lil Wayne, 25, of Miami, were each arrested and charged with criminal possession
of a weapon, police said. Ja Rule’s real name is Jeff Atkins; Lil Wayne’s is Dwayne Carter. They were arrested shortly after Carter’s concert at the Beacon Theatre in Manhattan. It was not immediately clear whether Atkins had also performed.
Officers spotted Carter and another man smoking marijuana by a tour bus near 61st Street and Columbus Avenue at about 11:30 p.m., police said. The officers took the two men into custody, finding the pistol. Both were charged with criminal possession of a weapon and marijuana.
Atkins was arrested about an hour earlier on West End Avenue. Police said he was in a luxury sedan that was going too fast.
WOW, rappers arrested in New York with guns and pot. Don’t all rappers have guns and pot on them, at all times? One was seen smoking a blundt near his tour bus and the other was pulled over for speeding, and both had guns on them. Hmmmmmmmmm…..
I’m not sure what to make of this. Just that any police officer anywhere can stop a rapper and find pot and a gun on them, especially Snoop Dogg. I can see the pot, they are so called artists, and need to keep their creative juices flowing. What’s with the guns? Is someone going to attack Ja Rule and Lil Wayne? Are they expecting to be in a gunfight, at any moment? I mean they ain’t wanted wrappers like Biggie or TuPak. What’s up?
I worked with Ja Rule once. He had a small part in the first “Fast and the Furious”. He worked with us for about a week. A nice guy, but in a week I saw every stereotype rapper behavior come to life. He had a posse of about 20 to 25, there was a cloud of marijuana smoke around his trailer all day, from 7AM. At the end of every day the trailer was filled with fast food bags, mostly KFC, and beer and liquor bottles, and empty Newport packs. I mean so much trash, you can barely walk into the trailer. The Teamsters, who where in charge of the trailer and had to clean it, hated him. They had to clean it up every night, and the producers let it slide. So the Teamsters just put in for more overtime for their trouble.
Ja, as he liked to be called, wasn’t such a bad guy on set, cooperative mostly, and he had a good sense of humor. I’m pretty sure he was stoned every second he was with us, but a pleasant stoned, and I don’t think he was packing.
So if your an aspiring police officer anywhere, get over to the local rap concert and pull over a rapper.
…Gonin’ DEEP!
