Of course Disney and Pixar Animation’s new movie “Ratatouille” was number one in last weekend’s box office. Disney/ Pixar has had 8 number one releases, including “Finding “Nemo” and “The Incredibles” , pretty much every movie they release opens at number one. This one had the lowest opening since 1998 “A Bugs Life”, and it still made 47.2 million for the weekend. I can’t understand it, I mean these movies are cool for kids 14 and under, but when adults tell me “Cars” or “The Incredibles” is their favorite movie, I got to raise an eyebrow. I never got into animated cartoon movie thing, like I said, great for kids. On the other hand I would see “Ratatouille” way before I would go see Michael Moore’s “Sicko”, which cracked the top ten, making 4.5 million last weekend. I hated Moore’s last 2 movies, I rather rip my eyeballs out then see that fat pig in a movie again. I much rather look at an animated rat.
Bruce Willis’ Live Free or Die Hard opened well at 33 million, but it seems pretty stupid for 20th Century Fox to have open it up a Pixar animated movie. Imagine the blow to Willis’ ego opening second behind the French rat. I guess a lot of kids are going to the movies, that’s good thing. I do think the Die Hard installment, will have some legs this summer. It’s the best Summer action movie so far, and should be around for a while. “Ratatouille” will be in the theaters forever and will make a fortune, just like the other Pixar movies. “The Transformers” will be huge, and will out do them all this summer. It seems like Fox had to pick its poison, and open “Die Hard 4″against a kids movie.

I liked Die Hard…Check out my review at Cold Leftovers.
As action movies go, it was pretty good, i think. Maybe not the best of the four, but worthy of the name…

I have heard from several of my friends “Live Free or Die Hard” is a good movie. I might have to check it out this weekend.
