“Evan Almighty” movie trailer

Director Tom Shadyac’s EVAN ALMIGHTY topped the box office last weekend. A sequel to Bruce Almighty, staring Jim Carrey, by the same director. That’s cool, I think Steve Carell is probably the funniest actor/comedian in Hollywood right now. It’ a hard thing to be funny and stay funny. When the original movie came out Jim Carrey was the “funniest guy around”. Who would of thought that 10 years later Jim Carrey wouldn’t be funny anymore, just like that, not funny. To busy banging Jenny McCarthy I guess. She is pretty hot, I’ve worked with her. I used to see her first thing in the morning every day. She’s held together pretty good since the Playboy and MTV years.
Really though, how hard is it to stay funny, especially in movies? Eddie Murphy- not funny, Robin Williams- funny but not funny in movies, Adam Sandler- never really thought he was that funny, Will Ferell- funny sometimes, Chris Rock- still very funny, but not always in movies. All of these guys were the “funniest guy around” for a while, but were not able to keep the title. Now it’s Steve Carell, who I think is hilarious on one of my favorite TV shows, THE OFFICE. He, is for sure the “funniest guy around” right now. Let’s see how long he can hold on to the title.
My good friend Jonathan Watson was the 1st Assistant Director (AD) and Associate Producer on Evan Almighty, and has worked with Tom Shadyac, and Steve Odekerk , screenwriter many times. He loves working with them and says they are great guys. Dealing with all the different animals made it a crazy and challenging shoot on this one. I heard they had a good time making it though. These funny and talented guys always run a first class production and turn out quality movies. The combination seems right. All the best…
