LOS ANGELES, California (Reuters Life!) — Actor Tom Sizemore, best known for battle-hardened film roles in “Saving Private Ryan” and “Black Hawk Down,” was sentenced Monday to 16 months in prison for violating his probation in a drug possession case. The actor admitted in court last week to violating his probation on a previous felony drug conviction and tearfully pleaded with the Los Angeles Superior Court judge for leniency, begging her, “If you would please just give me one more chance for myself.”
Sizemore was on three years’ probation when he was arrested May 8 outside a California hotel on suspicion of methamphetamine possession. The actor’s probation for a previous methamphetamine possession conviction was revoked in 2005 when he admitted to using a prosthetic penis in a bid to fake a urine test.
Sizemore, along with actor Jason Salcido, were arrested at the Four Points Sheraton in Bakersfield California.
Police said Salcido challenged a hotel clerk to a fight and when officers arrived, they believe both actors were under the influence. Reports said Sizemore had two small bags of meth and a smoking pipe.
The guy is a freak, he’s out in Bakersfield working on a movie, in the middle of farm country. A place where they really don’t like Hollywood, a place where the cops are watching. So he has to go outside of his hotel and smoke up some meth and threaten a hotel employee, and he’s on probation for a drug charge to boot. What the hell did he think was going to happen? Why didn’t he just party in his room? This guy used to be a good actor, but I think that time has past. He has totally destroyed a very promising career by being stupid. I guess that could be expected from someone who was married to Heidi Fleiss, another freakazoid. I wonder if those two ever smoked up some meth in Bakersfield together? “Smokin Meth in Bakersfield”, sounds like a bad country song. Maybe 16 months in the joint will help him. Doubt it.
The movie he was working on is called American Son, I interviewed for the AD job. It’s a low budget independent film. The producers had deals with the unions to pay everyone on the crew about $100 a day. They planned to shoot th entire movie in Bakersfield in about 22 shoot days. I considered it for a while and then it didn’t quite work out for me or the producers, for a lot of reasons. I had a couple of meetings with the Director Neil Abramson, a really nice guy. Someone I would like to work with some time. The script was very good about a local Bakersfield kid who joined the army and was shipping out to Iraq. The story is about his last weekend at home before going over. Sizemore was playing the crazy neighbor of his girlfriend’s family, who was a Viet Nam vet. I still think the movie could be good, the script by Eric Schmid is solid, and Neil had a good vision for it. I’m happy I wasn’t caught in the middle of all this drama, it would have been an interesting movie to work on, but the money sucked. Producer Danielle Renfrew, and Co-Producer Keely Gould, treated me well, and are also people I would like to work with sometime in the future. It’s funny that Tom Sizemore is not listed on the cast list for the movie on IMDB. I wonder why? click here for credits
…FREAK!… and DEEP INSIDE.
